Hello ,

The 04-Minute News is our classic, which we send out now already in the 15th year about every 3 months. Wild times, a lot in flux and we want to reflect on that here. The 04 Minute News will become the 04 Minute "Medical Design Checkup" and from now on will bear the signature of our whole team.

In each edition, I will introduce you to a wild personality that makes up WILDDESIGN and will continue to shape it in the years to come. We will not only report about what we have achieved but also about what we are planning to do. As always, our aim is to share our knowledge and to take our great network, which includes you, that significant step further.

Yours Markus Wild / today "featuring" Marc Ruta

MARC - WILDDESIGN Veteran

DESIGN THINKING AND MDR ON HIS MIND

How must a designer's brain work if, besides the urge to create something new and aesthetic, it voluntarily wants to deal with the restrictions of a highly regulated market? Let's take a look ....

Marc is a WILDDESIGN veteran. He joined WILDDESIGN in 1998, even before he graduated in Industrial Design from Folkwang University in Essen. And of course, I couldn't just let him go after his diploma and the first year has now turned into almost 25 years. 24 years in which Marc has experienced all the important stages of WILDDESIGN's development up close and has had a decisive influence on them - initially as a draft designer who used pencils and model-making foam to give a distinctive shape to a wide variety of products (from pruning shears to eye surgery equipment to sewage-works, there was everything in the 2000s), and later as a senior designer, project manager, and authorized signatory. Starting in the 2010s, the focus of our design work shifted more and more towards medical design. And Marc discovered his - until then hidden - passion for standards and the exhaustion of the possibilities limited by the latter. Freely following the motto: Know the limits and fill them.

Thus, Marc established Usability Engineering at WILDDESIGN during this time and gradually gathered more and more standards that could be relevant to our work - including various standards on device safety and interaction principles. The essence from these sets of rules which may impact the design work is incorporated into the concept evaluation. Marc imparts his knowledge to the rest of the team, too, in a manner that is as eloquent as well as it is condensed in meetings that are affectionately referred to internally as "Klugscheißerstunden”, which basically means “smart-ass sessions". For all his attention to detail, however, his most important drive is and remains the daily struggle within the creative team to find the optimal design solution for each individual product.

But our focus is on the future, and given our strategic focus on medical design and Marc's personal strengths, it seems almost inevitable that he will also be taking quality management to a new level in the future - ISO 13485 will shape his and our agenda over the next 12 months.

You will find Marc in the Gelsenkirchen office when he is not on a flying visit to Munich or Magdeburg. He is the ideal contact when it comes to holistic concepts in the area of conflict between user needs, perfect design and its realization within the framework of regulatory requirements for an increasingly demanding market.

Dennis, new office lead in GE

DSC_0208-1

With more than 10 years at WILDDESIGN, Dennis Kulage has now become our office manager in Gelsenkirchen. Until now, this position did not really exist, as the GE office enjoyed a special position as the largest and oldest office. That is all part of the past now and every one of our locations are now led by one office manager. Dennis is the ideal person to fill this position, as he, originating from the Ruhr area, brings with him not only his technical expertise but also previous experience from his own design business.

Dennis, rock it!

Next: WILDDESIGN Hamburg

We are looking north. After Munich and Magdeburg we will soon develop another new location. We thought we would let you know so that you can help us find the best setup for our new office in the Hanseatic city, if necessary. Tips and hints are welcome and maybe, somehow we will get together there.

RED DOT REALLY CELEBRATED AGAIN

Bildschirmfoto-2022-07-18-um-18.43.10

A RED DOT FOR THE HERO - AND 30 EXUBERANT WILD DESIGNERS

The occasion was winning the red dot award for the disinfection robot HERO of our customer ICA from Dortmund. But let's be honest, for us it was a welcome occasion to celebrate properly again. After virtually celebrating in 2020 and 2021, this year everything was back to the way it should be: Peter Zec in white suit and red shoes, hundreds of snazzy designers, all award winners "up close and personal" and at the end a party until dawn. Thank you, red dot!

Haver CPA 2-1 Redesign

Partikelanalyse-HAVER-CPA-2-1_5-Rendering

Particle analysis in a new guise: Similar to medical technology, purchasing decisions in the field of complex laboratory equipment are increasingly based on good design and ease of use. WILDDESIGN Munich was allowed to redesign the CPA 2-1 in this respect.

Wellsystem

Wellness must not only feel good, but also look good. Wellsystem is the inventor of the first overwater massager and as market leader convinces with excellent quality, functionally as well as aesthetically. With the new Wave and MedWave line, the company now presents the result of the first collaboration with the WILDDESIGN team.

TEAM WITHOUT WORRIES ABOUT NEW BLOOD

From Gelsenkirchen, to Shanghai, Munich, Magdeburg, ... what’s next? Our company is growing. Our team is dynamic and always on the move. Young and experienced, a good mix.

We say hello to Takashi Kondo, who joins our Gelsenkirchen team in July as a senior in Industrial Design and UI Design. And welcome Julian Zeuner in Magdeburg, who starts his career directly with us after his internship and successful master thesis. Alicia, Franziska, Frieder, Darius and Haoxiang - our current interns - keep us on the pulse of the next generation and remind us of what we should use our skills for.

We say thank you to Thomas Eckermann-Brahe from the Gelsenkirchen team, who recently left us for his dream job of building a design department at a mid-sized company. Good luck with that!

Open positions:
UI/UX Designer (m/f/d) Munich
Industrial Designer (m/f/d) Shanghai
